Noteworthy changes in this release include support for performance enhancing features and expanded flexibility. OpenNESS now supports OVN/OVS-DPDK as an industry leading option for high performance data planes for both on-premise and network edge configurations. With this third major release of OpenNESS, we continue to strengthen our customers' ability to quickly and easily deploy apps and services at the Edge. Release 19.12 comes with a greatly improved ease of use, and enables a rich set of new capabilities, including support for Standalone 5GNR deployments, and Enhanced Platform Awareness (EPA) for cloud native deployments. In November 2019, China Unicom, together with ZTE, Intel, and Tencent, successfully completed the MEC-scale network trial commercial operation in Shenzhen under the 4G / 5G live network environment to launch China Unicom's edge MEC platform (CUC-MEC Platform). Together these companies successfully launched the world's first "5G + MEC" that was verified on the scale of a commercial live network in Shenzhen. Show More

Intel, along with other partners, were awarded ‘Best new Catalyst’ for their ‘Becoming EDGY’ demonstration during the Digital Transformation Asia, TM Forum Event (12-14 November 2019, Kuala Lumpur).
The team demonstrated a blueprint for an edge cloud lifecycle manager and showcased the solution value in the deployment of several edge use cases by a Telco Network Operator. Different edge use cases like Smart Retail, CDN, Cloud Gaming etc were centrally orchestrated with a Telco service orchestrator OSM as part of this demonstration. Show More

OpenNESS 19.09 introduces several new features that build upon the foundational capabilities introduced in our initial release.
